dating: 1861 - 1865 provenance: USA, Rifled, two-stage, 50 cal. barrel (clean bore, visible groove), octagonal with rear sight at the first part, then round with foresight, remains of original bluing. Percussion lock openable with a button placed in the trigger guard before the trigger. The left lock platemarked 'ADDRESS / POULTNEY & TRIMBLE / BALTIMORE U.S.A.' and 'MANUFACTURED BY / AM' N. M'CH'N WKS / SPRINGFIELD MASS'. Saddle ring. The iron parts with rust damaged areas. Serial no. '17xx', two-piece wooden stock, butt with stamps. length 99.5 cm.
