NOTE:Monumental 'Keur Bible', interspersed with extra plates from "Figures de la Bible" and "Figures qui représentent les évenemens les plus mémorables du Nouveau Testament", The Hague, P. de Hondt, 1728, consisting of 2 engr. titles (one preceding the Old, the other preceding the New Testament), and 212 full-p. and double-p. engravings, i.a. after Hoet, Houbraken, Picart, etc. This Bible was named after Jacques Saurin, a French minister who became famous for his eloquent sermons, who wrote the captions (in 6 languages!) beneath the prints. For obvious reasons this Bible is also known as the Pieter de Hondt Print Bible. With (in both volumes present) a large 'bookplate' stating that Hendrik en Aeltjen Hesselink were the owners in 1740. - Cf. Poortman, Bijbel & prent, p. 140-5.
