Edelink sculpsit 1676" (laid down on paper, strimmed outside platemarks, some min. foxing). Portrait engraving of the famous French court painter Philippe de Champaigne (1602-1674), with the town scape of Brussels (with St Gudula and the town hall) visible in the background. The background is a reference to his Brussels origins. After the original self-portrait of 1668. Ref. Robert-Dumesnil 164-1. Joined: Cossin, Louis. After P. Rabon - Portrait of Louis Roupert, Maître Orfèvre à Metz. Nice portrait of one of the most important goldsmiths working under the reign of Louis XIV, here shown as a designer of ornament prints.
